The Sable Quean is written by Brian Jaques and is the Twenty-first book in the Redwall series. It follows the journey of Buckler, a hare from Salamandastron and a member of the Long Patrol. Buckler was sent by the badger lord, Brang, with a fat hare named Diggs to Redwall to deliver two bellropes to the Abbess Majoram. On the way to Redwall they meet a shrewmaid named Flib and together they head to Redwall. Again, they run into someone and this time it is "The Witherspyk Performing Players" led by Oakheart the hedgehog and his wife Dymphina. Together with Oakheart's mom, Crumfriss and Oakheart's nine children, (four of which are adopted), form "The Witherspyk Performing Players". They are also going to Redwall and they agree to go to Redwall together although, that night while Flib and the hedgehog twins, Jiddle and Jinty, are sleeping on the bank of the river Moss, everbody else is sleeping on a boat owned by Oakheart. Flib and the twins are kidnapped by Zwilt the shade under the command of the Sable Quean! Join Buckler and Diggs, with Log-a-Log Jango Bigboat, father of Flib, his Guosim shrews and Skipper of Otters
as they search Mossflower woods for Flib and other Dibbuns, (a name for little ones at Redwall), who are captured by the Sable Quean!
